The Sub-regional Workshop on “Dispersants, operational usage and effectiveness monitoring” and the Second Preparatory Meeting of the National Operational Authorities responsible for the implementation of the Sub-regional Marine Oil Pollution Contingency Plan between Cyprus, Greece and Israel, will be held at the Hellenic Coast Guard's Headquarters in Piraeus Greece, from 05-06 October 2021 and on 07 October 2021, respectively
The Workshop which is organised by the Marine Environment Protection Directorate, Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy, Greece, in cooperation with the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) and funded by the Mediterranean Trust Fund (MTF) within the framework of the Sub-regional Marine Oil Pollution Contingency Plan between Cyprus, Greece and Israel (the Plan).
The principal objective of the Workshop is to acquaint senior officers, designated in their respective National Contingency Plans to act as Supervisors or On-scene Commanders, as well as the representatives of the National Operational Authorities responsible for the implementation of the Plan, with the state-of-the-art in theory and practice of the use of dispersants in oil spill response operations, in accordance with the Article paragraph 4.5 ‘use of dispersants and other non-mechanical response methods’ of the Plan.
