The Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC), through Green Bow Maritime Ltd, is organising an online validation workshop, on Tuesday 4th February 2025 at 10:30am (GMT +1).

This Webinar will review and discuss the draft Guidelines for the Development of Joint Spill Response Exercises (JSREs) within the Framework of the Sub-regional Contingency Plans (SCPs), which are being developed by REMPEC, in accordance with the UNEP/MAP Programme of Work for the biennium 2024-2025, more specifically under the activity entitled "Strengthen the capacity of individual coastal States to respond efficiently to marine pollution incidents".

This Workshop will bring together all key stakeholders to:

  • Present the framework for conducting effective Joint Spill Response Exercises (JSREs)
  • Review the process followed in drafting these Guidelines
  • Examine key considerations for the successful preparation and execution of JSREs
  • Share insights from the findings of Activity No 1.2.10
  • Engage in  constructive dialogue to validate, refine, and ensure that the recommendations align seamlessly with existing National Contingency Plans (NCPs) and Subregional Contingency Plans (SCPs).

We seek the proactive engagement of participants in this webinar, aimed to:

  • Gain insights into best practices for conducting joint spill response exercises
  • Contribute to the development of a valuable resource for the Mediterranean region
  • Network with other professionals in the field of marine pollution response

The draft Guidelines will be presented for adoption at the forthcoming 16th Meeting of REMPEC Focal Points (Malta, 13-15 May 2025).
