The primary response method at sea is mechanical containpment and recovery. The controlled use of dispersants is allowed, following prior official authorization from Director of DFMR |

Article 7 of Cyprus Law No.57 of 1989 determines that “the use of dispêrsants or other chemical sustances for pollution combatting is prohibited, without the approval of the Director of the Fisheries Department of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural ressources”. |
