Arrival of Mr Guillaume Poirier at REMPEC – Aug 03, 2016
REMPEC is pleased to announce the arrival of Mr Guillaume Poirier, who took the position of Junior Programme Administrator at REMPEC on 02 August 2016.
Mr. Guillaume Poirier held a MSc Maritime Engineering Science in Centrale-Marseille after graduating at Icam-Toulouse, generalist engineering school. After his master's degree, Mr. Guillaume Poirier worked for horizon 2020 program (EnergyMare project), he contributed in the marine renewable energy resources assessment for Atlantic area. He is seconded to REMPEC since August 2016 by the French oil company TOTAL S.A. as International Scientific Volunteer (VIS), for 18 months. His responsibilities include, amongst others:
- To support the organisation of events and the implementation of various activities in the field of preparedness and response to marine pollution, as well as in the field of Offshore oil and gas activities;
- To support in writing documents and reports (English/French);
- To support the cooperation with the oil and gas industry at the regional level to develop joint activities;
- To assist in the preparation and implementation of ongoing (POSOW II) and/or future EC-funded or other externally funded projects;
- To update the alerts and accidents database;
- To support the data update of the Maritime Integrated Decision Support Information System (MIDSIS-TROCS), in particular the accident reports;
- To maintain the Centre’s Website, its Regional information System (RIS) and the Mediterranean Integrated Geographical Information System on Marine Pollution Risk Assessment and Response (MEDGIS-MAR);
- To participate in communication exercises and other national oil spill exercises; and
- To maintain and test the Mediterranean Assistance Unit.
