Courtesy call by REMPEC to his Excellency Mr Ian Borg, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects – Jul 16, 2018
On 16 July 2018, the Regional Maritime Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) paid a courtesy visit to his Excellency Mr Ian Borg, Minister for Transport, Infrastructure and Capital Projects.
His Excellency Mr I. Borg welcomed Mr Gabino Gonzalez, Head of Office of REMPEC, who briefed him about current and future major activities of the Centre in the region and Malta. Discussion addressed various issues related to the prevention of, preparedness for and response to marine pollution from ships.
Particular emphasis was given to national and regional prospective measures to address challenges related to the emission from ships, marine litter and oil spill contingency planning.
The Minister reiterated the commitment of Malta to continue supporting the Centre’s activities and highlighted his interest to participate in person in upcoming meetings organised by the Centre.
