Courtesy visit of His Excellency Mr Panagiotis Kouroumplis, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of the Hellenic Republic to REMPEC – Mar 29, 2017
On 30 March 2017, His Excellency Mr Panagiotis Kouroumplis, Minister of Maritime Affairs and Insular Policy of the Hellenic Republic and his accompanying delegation paid a courtesy visit to the Regional Maritime Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC) in Malta.
The Hellenic delegation met with Mr Gabino Gonzalez, Head of Office of REMPEC, who briefed them about current and future major activities of the Centre in the region and Greece. Moreover, potential projects to further exploit and establish clear potential synergies and collaboration with the support of the Hellenic Republic Government were also highlighted.
At the end of the session, the Minister congratulated REMPEC, the UN Environment/MAP, the International Maritime Organization (IMO) and all involved in such a crucial effort for the future of the region. He reiterated the commitment of Greece to support the cooperation among all Mediterranean countries, and said “our love and appreciation for a high quality of life is displayed through the unity of all Mediterranean countries”.
