VOS SATISFACTION - REMOVAL FROM SEA DIAMOND
Chartered by Dronik Maritime Consultants Ltd (Underwater Search & Survey) the offshore supply vessel VOS SATISFACTION, called at Valletta on its way back from Santorini Island (Greece).
The vessel was used to support the recovery of the remaining bunkers of the Cruise Liner SEA DIAMOND which sank in the Santorini Caldera in April 2007.
“The operation has been extremely challenging on a casualty which has suffered a high degree of deformation” said Mr. Michael Barclay, Managing Director of Dronik Maritime Consultant Ltd.
The Operation involved the use of state of the art technology including remotely operated vehicles (ROVs) to drill the wreck and pump the bunker from several parts of the vessel, which lays by approximately 120 m depth.
