The 2nd OpenRisk Workshop held in Lisbon – Oct 12, 2017
Mr Malek Smaoui, Programme Officer (OPRC) at REMPEC participated to the 2nd OpenRisk Workshop which was held in the Lisbon Agreement´s premises on the 12 October 2017.
OpenRisk is a two year EU project on methods for maritime risk assessment on accidental spills. The expected main end users are national authorities and regional organizations working on spill prevention, preparedness and response. As such, the project focusses on risks related to spills from ship accidents.
After the welcoming words of the Lisbon Agreement and OpenRisk partners, the participants assisted a presentation about the ISO 31000 Standard on Risk Management, and suggestions how to implement it to the Pollution Prevention and Response activities. This was followed by Round Table discussion.
In the afternoon, the participants assisted six presentations about the open source risk assessment tools. This was followed by evaluation of the applicability and attributes of these tools.

The 3rd OpenRisk Workshop will be hosted by REMPEC, from 24 to 25 April 2018 in REMPEC’s Offices, Valletta, Malta.
