Third Adriatic Oil Spill Conference (ADRIASPILLCON 2016), Opatija, Croatia, between 10 and 12 May 2016 – May 10, 2016
IMO’s Integrated Technical Cooperation Programme (ITCP) supported, through REMPEC, the participation of representatives from Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Montenegro to attend the third Adriatic Oil Spill Conference (ADRIASPILLCON 2016) held in Opatija, Croatia, between 10 and 12 May 2016, under the auspices of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure of the Republic of Croatia.
Over 100 participants from the Adriatic countries, from national, regional and international institutions, oil, chemical and shipping industries, the scientific community, individual experts, specialized companies and equipment manufacturers attended the event.
The programme ADRIASPILLCON 2016 focused on the level of preparedness of the region to respond to oil and chemical marine pollution, the risk and challenges of offshore activities in the Adriatic Sea and the practical, technical and scientific aspects of spill response. The conference was complemented by an Exhibition of equipment and presentation of services offered by organizations and companies engaged in the field of oil and HNS spill preparedness and response.
REMPEC's OPRC Focal Points of all six Adriatic countries attended an ad hoc working Meeting chaired by the Croatian Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure, which was organized on 10 May 2016, on the margins of the conference, to discuss potential way forward to increase cooperation among the countries in the region in the field of accidental marine pollution preparedness and response.
