Visit | Rear Admiral Sergio Liardo, Deputy Commandant of the Italian Coast Guard – May 10, 2024
On 10th May 2024 REMPEC's Head of Office welcomed the Deputy Commandant of the Italian Coast Guard, Rear Admiral Sergio Liardo at the Regional Marine Pollution Emergency Response Centre for the Mediterranean Sea (REMPEC). It was a fruitful and productive meeting in which both parties discussed the challenges and opportunities to the protection of the marine environment in the Mediterranean Region.
The Head of Office, Mr Ivan Sammut, took the opportunity to thank Rear Admiral Sergio Liardo for the commitment and support that Italy has always shown towards the aims and objectives of REMPEC and towards capacity building in the Mediterranean Sea.
Mr Sammut also commended the Italian Coastguard for the successful oil pollution emergency exercise carried out bilaterally with the Armed Forces of Malta and Transport Malta with the participation of REMPEC as part of the Barracuda 2024.
